Where do you officiate weddings?
I’m based in Pōkeno, and I officiate weddings across Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), Waikato, and Bay of Plenty. If your ceremony is further afield, feel free to reach out and we can kōrero about travel options.
Can you officiate weddings in a church?
Only organisational celebrants can legally marry couples in a church. However, I can officiate your ceremony anywhere else — from beaches and gardens to vineyards and backyards.
How long have you been a celebrant?
I’ve been a celebrant for over five years now, and it continues to be one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.
We’re already legally married — can we still have a ceremony?
Āe, absolutely! You can still have a renewal or symbolic ceremony to celebrate your love with your whānau and friends. I’ll help design something deeply meaningful and true to you.
What should we look for in a celebrant?
Look for someone who:
– Takes time to truly understand your story
– Communicates clearly and with warmth
– Brings calm, positive energy to your day
– Makes the process easy and stress-free
– Feels like someone you can trust to hold the space for you both.
Do we need to apply for a marriage licence?
Āe — you’ll need to apply for a marriage licence at least three working days before your ceremony. You can do this online through New Zealand Births, Deaths and Marriages register, and I can guide you through the process if needed.
How do you personalise our ceremony?
I’ll send you a questionnaire to learn your story, how you met, what you love most about each other, and your hopes for the day. From there, I craft a personalised ceremony that reflects your journey, values, and connection.
Can we write our own vows?
Absolutely — and they’re always the most heartfelt! I can share templates and vow starters to help you find the right words.
How long does a ceremony usually last?
Most personalised ceremonies last 25–35 minutes, including readings and signing. A BYO Vows ceremony is usually around 15–20 minutes.
Can we include whānau, friends, or pets for specific items?
Absolutely! Your ceremony should reflect your world, whānau, tamariki, or furry friends. It’s your day, your way!
Do you offer rehearsals?
Āe, yes! Rehearsals are included in my Bespoke ceremony package. It helps everyone feel confident and comfortable before the big day.
Do you provide sound equipment?
Yes, I have a portable speaker and microphone that we can use. However, if your venue requires a complete PA system, then you’ll need to work with your DJ or venue coordinator to provide one.
What if our wedding location is further afield?
I’m based in beautiful Pōkeno, and I’m more than happy to travel to officiate your ceremony anywhere across Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), Waikato, and Te Moana-a-Toi (Bay of Plenty).
There’s no mileage fee for weddings held within the Franklin region — ka pai! For weddings a little further afield, a nominal mileage cost will apply, calculated at the current IRD rate.
If your wedding is outside these regions, kei te pai – just give me a call and we can kōrero about the travel details and any extra costs.
Do you ever officiate multiple weddings in a day?
Never. I only ever officiate one in a day, so you have my full attention and care on your special day.
What do you wear to weddings?
I always dress to complement your theme, colours, and venue — whether that’s formal, elegant, or relaxed.
Can we see examples of your work?
Āe, of course! I’m happy to share a sample ceremony script or talk you through previous weddings so you can get a feel for my style.
